This short book by Joseph Reich, author of The Rituals of Mummification and many other collections, consists of tantalizing descriptions of 84 hallucinated Magritte murals, painted on the inside of the poet’s insomniac eyelids. Strongly visual but leaving much to the imagination, humorous, and deliciously paradoxical, this is a delightful introduction to Reich’s wryly obsessive way of shaking off the downpour of the world’s insanity.
